Good morning!

Don't forget to enter to win my 100 followers blog candy! The link at the top will remain there until it's time to draw the winner :)

I wanted to share a layout and card I made, although I'm not too pleased with the card. I've been trying to use card scraps more, as I'm just overwhelmed with scraps at the moment, and don't want to add to the collection. This one didn't turn out the way I planned...

Let me start with the layout. Recently, I was Guest Designer over at Colorful Creations, a wonderful Ning challenge forum, always chock full of challenges to test your crafty limits! I decided to join in on the Jeopardy game they have going on this month...you choose a square on the Jeopardy board (I chose Mystery Challenge for 400) and are emailed a challenge (which is like the answer) and submit your layout. Easy peasy! The Mystery Challenge $400 square told me to choose a sketch from The Scrappiest from 2011, any sketch I desired, and scrap it, using the color green. Here's the sketch I chose:

and here's my interpretation.
I used Scenic Route Lynden for this, only 2 sheets of double sided goodness needed (Glenning Street and Scrap Strip.) Distressed most edges, Fiskars decorative edge scissors, lots of doodling, and some glitter glue.

How can I forget to mention the fab handmade flower? I used my oval cutter for this instead of the circle cutter...just wanted to see what would happen. It actually allows for more of the pattern to jump out from underneath the crumples :) Strips are popped off the page w/Pop Dots.
I heart sparkle...
...and dimension.
Scenic Route Happy Valley alpha stickers in clover. Glitter glue is Studio G.

Ok, so then I had all of these scraps, and thought, ok, I'll enter Stacy's challenge over at sketches4all. Why not? Cute sketch, love this paper, so I dove right in. And HATED the results...probably because I limited myself to the scraps and didn't make anything "pop." It could also be the sloppy glitter glue work. Ultimately, what kills me about this card is the lack of dimension, I should have inked the edges of all of the paper scraps! Oh well. I'll give it to Patryk for Easter LOL

Off to the craft room...to make flowers for my Etsy shop. Why? Well, I ran out of adhesive last night, and we are B-R-O-K-E. My p.o.s. van needed new tires, then decided to switch on the ol' check engine light. >:/ Hubby hasn't had side work in MONTHS to bring in the extra cash to fund my craft habit :( To top it all off, we need printer ink...Andraia has a science project due at the end of the month. Ah well, he has a job coming up early next month, so I think we'll end up being ok (or should I say I'll end up being ok...the countdown is on until I can set foot in the craft store again!) I'll just have to get creative with whatever adhesive I can find in the meantime, right?

Until later peeps!
