XOXO Challenge #31: I Don't Have Time For This!

Remember my post from yesterday? You know, the "super duper ridiculously busy so I barely remembered to post this" post? Yeah...that's the idea behind this month's XOXO challenge.

We were given one hour and no more to complete a layout. Talk about perfect for summer!!!!! I kind of shied away from this one for a bit. It always takes me at least a couple of hours to call it good, so how was I supposed to do this?!

Smash to the rescue! I'd been neglecting this little Smash album I'd picked up ages upon ages ago (now that I think of it, it was a prize in an Oh My Crafts! contest a while back...like a long while!) I'd really wanted to get into the whole Smash album idea, but didn't know where to start! After all, these pages are permanently in this album, smaller than the normal 12X12 I've been scrapping for years, and...well, the papers were soooo pretty! How could I bring myself to cover them up?

A couple of months ago, I joined a group called the Smashaholics on Facebook. I feasted my eyes upon a host of Smash eye candy, enough inspiration to want to try it out...and when they posted a challenge, I was all over it. After doing the first page, I realized it wasn't so bad after all, and I liked how quick and simple it came together...and decided to do a couple of Smash layouts for this challenge. (Yes, a couple...an hour was long enough to get two pages completed!) I had a couple of photos kicking around from a long time ago (like, my 10 year old is 4 and my 12 year old is 6!) and got to work (after setting the timer of course! Didn't want to get lost in the creation process and realize I spent hours on it and have to do it all over again!)

Besides the fun AT sketchbook papers and elements like that fun camera sticker and yellow strip (which is the waste strip you cut away with manufacturer info on a 12X12), I pulled out washi, Prima flowers, and a sparkle glitter brad. Oh, can't forget the yellow Studio G glitter glue I put on the grey alpha "you are my" under the photo. I didn't think it stood out enough. On the second page, I kept it pretty simple: AT papers, Glitz turquoise alpha, and 3 strips of washi tape.

I outlined the Heidi Swapp neon alpha in black pen to make it stand out a bit more.

That's it for now, off to swimming lessons for the rugrats and then to celebrate the holiday with the hubby. He's picked up third shift for the week to cover a vacation, so it feels like I haven't seen him at all this week! I'll enjoy the heck out of his day off today :)

Crafter's Companion Challenge Blog: July "Anything Goes" Challenge

Good morning! Is it the third already? Sheesh...a day late (actually two) and a dollar short! What a great weekend we had though :) I just love the summer!

This month, the CCCB wants to see ANYTHING using a Crafter's Companion stamp. We know it's a crazy month, so show us any theme. Easy peasy!! This month, you have a chance to win a $30 gift certificate to the Crafter's Companion online store :)

I made this card using the adorable new Meadow Cottage Bears stamp set. Isn't it cute?
Sassafrass Lass papers, AC ribbon, Stickles, AC brad, Spectrum Noir markers, and a Chip Chop Shop doily.

The inside: Sassfrass Lass scrap, MLS alpha, and Prima flower.

That's it, super easy! Head on over and show us your creation today. Head to the CCCB for rules and link to enter. Have a great day, off to swimming lessons for the rugrats!
