We're a week into <a href="http://www.challenges.papercraftingmagic.com/challenge-10-my-favorites-2/">Paper Crafting Magic's Challenge #10</a>, where we're asking you to show us your favorites! Easy, right? This one is almost a no brainer (perfect for the end of the school year with all of the activities and things going on in all of our busy lives...or is that just me? HA!)<br />
<br />
I decided to go with this fun interactive card (one of my favorite things currently), which I made for my mother on Mother's Day. Of course, since it was being mailed to my mom in TN, I just *had* to make a gift box for it ;) For both the card and the gift box, I turned to my Ultimate Tool. Here's the end result, after much folding, gluing, and fussing over perfect flower placement:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi4Rvu9yCtO9q3Bay6yBpv7SsZdPT-aEErbwuLGaXc6WaU4cqK8a8Bb-NncsnbRLSRAI-iF3cUZ4n41dh3MCRoJMLLwKIDazmotk8Dxd2XTkgasbHT6mcWHLSZmXJHy3QS1ZPcKiyVV8ww/s1600/image(2).jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi4Rvu9yCtO9q3Bay6yBpv7SsZdPT-aEErbwuLGaXc6WaU4cqK8a8Bb-NncsnbRLSRAI-iF3cUZ4n41dh3MCRoJMLLwKIDazmotk8Dxd2XTkgasbHT6mcWHLSZmXJHy3QS1ZPcKiyVV8ww/s1600/image(2).jpeg" height="400" width="300" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEinikSJukncbSYcd39c_J4iH0x9Dj4AxIzRxv4GQlkTEm9bN7rOPxcNzAJkxehq-zjoWUGV_uSWr2YMb0X86T_VBtqx-PU9JeBeAgZ9P_CbJ9hdHn41_r8J6EJUrk1Heb2OlMtMNwh6vx8/s1600/image(3).jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEinikSJukncbSYcd39c_J4iH0x9Dj4AxIzRxv4GQlkTEm9bN7rOPxcNzAJkxehq-zjoWUGV_uSWr2YMb0X86T_VBtqx-PU9JeBeAgZ9P_CbJ9hdHn41_r8J6EJUrk1Heb2OlMtMNwh6vx8/s1600/image(3).jpeg" height="400" width="300" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhx4ZUAVQ0je_Zsux-D2cEs-D0jflDJyKxFIg1VyiQWqgMNt-zEKqxIg1URCZ2_kvGsFj0VG3wyUCjU-xusjWzgdDM7qCCFKAxmaojnkDjwN98rxD2HUE2fHah_FLbiL8L7KJRlsCi0A-I/s1600/image(4).jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhx4ZUAVQ0je_Zsux-D2cEs-D0jflDJyKxFIg1VyiQWqgMNt-zEKqxIg1URCZ2_kvGsFj0VG3wyUCjU-xusjWzgdDM7qCCFKAxmaojnkDjwN98rxD2HUE2fHah_FLbiL8L7KJRlsCi0A-I/s1600/image(4).jpeg" height="400" width="300" /></a></div>
Isn't it pretty? It's a sheet of white cardstock cut and folded to make this pretty interactive card that pops out into a box that can stand like a vase of flowers on a table! *LOVE* Patterned papers were glued down on the flaps and outside of the box, and the flowers inside are mostly Prima. The fun clips with flowers on top are Crate Paper, and the big pink heart is Prima. I took a few chipboard hearts from Stuff2Scrap and sprayed them with Dragon Fruit Pink Maya Mist. Once that dried, a light layer of Angel Pink Memento Fireworks left a nice shimmer over the top. All of the elements are attached to acetate strips. The sentiment is from Crafter's Companion, one of their Sentimentals sets.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

I am a bit late with this, but with the chaos of spring sports season (baseball, softball, and lacrosse)/end of school, it's easy to see how that can happen! I am hoping to schedule the next few weeks' worth of blog posts so as to avoid this in the future.<br />
<br />
Today, I am excited to share the latest <a href="http://www.challenges.papercraftingmagic.com/challenge-9-only-1-embellishment/">Paper Crafting Challenges </a>challenge, sponsored by the wonderful Studio Calico. They have offered up a great prize for the winner, and have even given our blog followers a special promo code! If you've ever wanted to subscribe, now is the chance! Head over to <a href="http://www.challenges.papercraftingmagic.com/challenge-9-only-1-embellishment/">our blog post</a> to check it out.<br />
<br />
We want to see your creations using just ONE EMBELLISHMENT this time around, and here's what I whipped up:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj5xZveS8lV7qeDE7bwBVLn1ziUvPahvoySHVQY6IhRZfwWXYVjPA71aTHlrcLwuQkgelAz4qv_Q_fLF-0BZetRXaJ6jxB5-vI5369fh_5VvQJiWAJNyd_8gjK3dpYKnuX8v4U1-X_txKE/s1600/image(2).jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj5xZveS8lV7qeDE7bwBVLn1ziUvPahvoySHVQY6IhRZfwWXYVjPA71aTHlrcLwuQkgelAz4qv_Q_fLF-0BZetRXaJ6jxB5-vI5369fh_5VvQJiWAJNyd_8gjK3dpYKnuX8v4U1-X_txKE/s1600/image(2).jpeg" height="400" width="286" /></a></div>
I love the look of an inked up embossed background, so I ran the cardstock through my Big Shot with my Cuttlebug Honeycomb embossing folder and rubbed Rose Bud Memento Dew Drop ink all over. The edges are inked in Espresso Truffle Memento ink. The Bo Bunny stamp (adorable, right?!) was colored in with my Spectrum Noir pens (EB3, TN2, PP6, PP5, PP4) and mounted with foam squares, and a Crafter's Companion sentiment from their Sentimentals EZ Mount Stamp Set collection was the perfect finishing touch. My one embellishment: this gorgeous Maya Road rosette ribbon!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Head on over and show us your project using just <a href="http://www.challenges.papercraftingmagic.com/challenge-9-only-1-embellishment/">one embellishment</a>. There are only two days left...which means I need to head over and schedule the post for my next project ;) Can't wait until this chaotic month is over and life can carry on as usual!<br />

Good afternoon! I have a moment in my crazy busy week, and thought I would share what I created for my son's wonderful teacher. She has a lot on her plate with a class full of first graders, and I wanted her to remember what a big role she plays in Patryk's life. <a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjV8oKkhkMfrMpngKk1CxoMcHx90CmrFLDV-kki3j2wM6_fKsfduu29xFQts0Hr7US3PFb1g-CNVhr5E1dGcUsEtmv-XTQuLI-3IuzOnF13sJdHqz0QVpwZPGNhLA0ovl1XhlF5796On9M/s640/blogger-image--336382816.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><br /></a><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjV8oKkhkMfrMpngKk1CxoMcHx90CmrFLDV-kki3j2wM6_fKsfduu29xFQts0Hr7US3PFb1g-CNVhr5E1dGcUsEtmv-XTQuLI-3IuzOnF13sJdHqz0QVpwZPGNhLA0ovl1XhlF5796On9M/s640/blogger-image--336382816.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjV8oKkhkMfrMpngKk1CxoMcHx90CmrFLDV-kki3j2wM6_fKsfduu29xFQts0Hr7US3PFb1g-CNVhr5E1dGcUsEtmv-XTQuLI-3IuzOnF13sJdHqz0QVpwZPGNhLA0ovl1XhlF5796On9M/s400/blogger-image--336382816.jpg" width="223" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Isn't that pretty? I used my Ultimate Tool to score and trim the accordion card, and decorated it with Crate Paper's Fourteen line. My Fiskars hexagon punch jazzed up the blue cardstock panels that are hidden on the back when the card is opened up, kind of like patchwork, and it is covered in Studio Calico wood shapes and MME enamal dots.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Now, onto the inside of the card. The stamp and sentiment, inked on the edges with Memento Tuxedo Black ink, are from the S.W.A.L.K. EZ Mount stamp set Best Teacher from <a href="http://crafterscompanion.com/">Crafter's Companion</a>, colored with my Spectrum Noir pens (that I didn't think to note for all of you wondering how I colored her up!) I had my son write a message on a sheet of white paper and inked the edges of that as well.</div>

Wowza! But I can't take all of the credit. Most of it is due to the fact I used sketches! Yet again, I chose to play along at the <a href="http://boysrulescrapbookkits.blogspot.ca/2014/04/april-15th-sketch-challenge-with-lynn.html">Boys Rule Scrapbook Kit blog</a>, this time using the second sketch. Here's the sketch:<br />

And my take on it featuring adorable little Patryk back in February of 2009 wearing his sister's scarf:<br />

That's what I love about sketches. They give you a starting point for your layout, and you can either copy it all as-is, or put your own personal spin on it. I chose to make a strip of two photos instead of making a photo strip, matting them together on a rectangular strip of paper. the larger 4X6 image is accented with hexagons instead of tags, and I added a fun Studio Calico arrow clip. Papers: Fancy Pants Happy Go Lucky, Elle's Stuido You & Me, and Glitz Color Me Happy, all inked with Memento Nautical Blue ink. My Mind's Eye Boy Crazy enamel dots, Silver Liquid Pearls, Glitz Color Me Happy washi (the fun arrow-looking strip where the title is placed), Fiskars hexagon punch, and My Mind's Eye Lime Twist alpha.<br />

I'm hoping that today holds more scrappy time, but we'll have to wait and see. It all depends on how quickly we can get out of the grocery store!<br />

Baseball, softball, and lacrosse schedules are in full swing, so there is a LOT of driving around. This doesn't leave much time for layouts to be completed in between work and home responsibilities, although I know it is short lived. When I do have time to work on a layout, it becomes essential the process is as painless as possible. I also find I am lacking in the creativity department when it comes to design, probably due to the overload our hectic schedule imposes upon my brain!<br />
<br />
That's where sketches come in handy. I love the challenges at the <a href="http://boysrulescrapbookkits.blogspot.ca/">Boys Rule Scrapbook Kits blog</a>, and decided to play along this weekend. I worked on this layout on Friday, their first sketch challenge (there are two each month). Sketches take the guesswork out of paper, photo, and element placement, while allowing you to make some alterations to suit your own personal style. In this case, I didn't alter much. I loved the sketch that put the spotlight on one image! Here's the sketch:<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">

Have you seen the new challenge over at <a href="http://www.challenges.papercraftingmagic.com/challenge-8-no-patterned-paper/">Paper Crafting Challenges</a>? This time, we're asking to see your creations featuring NO PATTERNED PAPER. This can seem a daunting task. However, there are many ways to deal with this problem. I like to create my own background as I've done here on my card:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh7nPM_EWvfcbzWXWCwQTQKLJgEIjgZzKcRaGen1o0o4H2Likf9Rq2dWKISChuBxWWwhZDRHBqP8wHh8VsfqvTk5WhyphenhyphenkrjEFIQ9c5zTECNUljiTeOsIfivsS1TJtmCxgF7Bu3UXa16QapM/s1600/image.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh7nPM_EWvfcbzWXWCwQTQKLJgEIjgZzKcRaGen1o0o4H2Likf9Rq2dWKISChuBxWWwhZDRHBqP8wHh8VsfqvTk5WhyphenhyphenkrjEFIQ9c5zTECNUljiTeOsIfivsS1TJtmCxgF7Bu3UXa16QapM/s1600/image.jpeg" height="400" width="353" /></a></div>
I started by splattering different mists across the kraft cardstock -- I used Glimmer Mist in Seven Seas, Fireworks in Angel Pink, and Mister Huey in Water Cooler. When that was dry, I added a border around the image with the Reversed Punchinella stamp from Unity Stamp Co, stamping with a Memento Dew Drop in Rose Bud.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhLxp4sleQ4MOGUu6c85uasHaTUAo3QCm8QVEvGR811SAVsySzmt4tuUcTTtPJ8_UHA1yul3NnAyfk8r-H-VHzFx79SHH8LfVbPGH46G5Ao6UzWZfHxuU5k_u5CxPcpQYccKkp5BVtYLas/s1600/image(1).jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhLxp4sleQ4MOGUu6c85uasHaTUAo3QCm8QVEvGR811SAVsySzmt4tuUcTTtPJ8_UHA1yul3NnAyfk8r-H-VHzFx79SHH8LfVbPGH46G5Ao6UzWZfHxuU5k_u5CxPcpQYccKkp5BVtYLas/s1600/image(1).jpeg" height="400" width="300" /></a></div>
I love this stamp! The image is Wild Rose Studio - Sheep For Ewe colored with my Spectrum Noir pens. After punching the corners with my corner rounder and affixing to a doily, I added some American Crafts Zazz! glitter glue in Taffy.<br />
<br />
So what are you waiting for? Head on over to <a href="http://www.challenges.papercraftingmagic.com/challenge-8-no-patterned-paper/">Paper Crafting Challenges</a> and submit your own card or altered item using no patterned paper for your chance to win a free stamp set from Waffle Flower! You have until May 2nd. I can't wait to see what you create!<br />

Have you seen the newest challenge at<a href="http://www.challenges.papercraftingmagic.com/challenge-7-masculine-a-new-designer/"> Paper Crafting Challenges</a>? This week, we're asking to see your manly creations! This can be tough for some, but that's why they call it a challenge, people! :)<br />
<br />
Here's what I came up with:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjQ9f5I-6Nn5g7_b2PM1eR2B3n0IFVLyrnsXyELNDHDEoPEXLCVXA_TUVphAjbvLxA1bH7CHpDTPXh3oOYYxvE24lM2mOxIo57O6VNPCxb58WfsgyOZov1oKzAlnwFnJPu9Mgh_JpL1zX0/s1600/2014-03-24+13.22.50.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjQ9f5I-6Nn5g7_b2PM1eR2B3n0IFVLyrnsXyELNDHDEoPEXLCVXA_TUVphAjbvLxA1bH7CHpDTPXh3oOYYxvE24lM2mOxIo57O6VNPCxb58WfsgyOZov1oKzAlnwFnJPu9Mgh_JpL1zX0/s1600/2014-03-24+13.22.50.jpg" height="320" width="270" /></a></div>
I used my Spectrum Noir markers for this bucket o' beer: IG5, IG4, IG3, JG4, JG3, LG3, DR5, DR4, CR6, GB8, TB5, TB4. Background paper is Fancy Pants Merry Little Christmas. Image and sentiment Crafter's Companion Camden Town Male 1 EZ Mount Stamp Set, stamped and matted on black cardstock. Love this card, and it will probably go to the hubs on this birthday.<br />

Could it be? Why yes! I did make a layout! Not only that, I made a 2-PAGER! It is rare I've been able to sit down to create for me lately...lacrosse, the middle school musical, band and chorus commitments, work, and chores...but I did it.<br />
<br />
I started Saturday, making about 7 layouts (which were awful in my opinion, but what do you expect after what feels like months not making layouts?), and then yesterday, sat down to do this one. I loved how it turned out, so I thought I would share. Many people struggle to do multi-photo layouts, especially when there are a lot of great pictures, and resign themselves to creating a mini album instead. While that's a great solution, it can be quite time consuming. So here's an idea, using some old photos of the girls sledding in the yard from 2009:<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: left;">
Count it up -- that's 10 photos on the same page! This was extra tough since I recently had 200 photos printed out at York Photo, all 4X6, so I had to determine what size I wanted them all to be. Not only that, I didn't want to cut out any of the kids. Outdoor pics work great here, as there is usually a lot of unneeded background space that can be cut away without giving it a second thought. I tried to keep a consistent size going, but honestly, I wasn't keeping track of sizes towards the end. The hardest part of this layout was choosing a pleasing layout. that's where a lot of multi-photo layouts go horribly wrong. There's no rhyme or reason to photo placement, almost like they threw up all over the page!</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I tried to keep it balanced, and after about eight minutes of shuffling photos around, came up with this. When I thought it was just right, I affixed the photos to the page starting at the bottom left hand corner and working my way across the first page, adding the second row afterwards, and then moving on to the second page of the layout. This allowed me to ensure perfect placement and spacing.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I pulled out an old sheet of Echo Park Winter Park element stickers to use up as much as I could. This allowed me to add things in random places without cluttering up the pics too much. The "Snow Day" sticker is a 3 Bugs In A Rug sticker from ages ago. One word of the title on one page and the other word on the second page, Pebbles alphabet stickers. Some great blue washi accenting the sides, and the journal box is Studio Calico Handbook journal cards. After the eight minutes of photo placement, another five or so minutes was spent placing embellishments. What a quick page!</div>

And look at those kids! Hard to believe they are 14 and almost 12 (Rileigh's birthday is in one week!!) I am behind in my scrapping, for sure, but it's nice knowing I can catch up if I just keep it quick and easy. Yes, I'll still do pages that take me an hour, where embellishments, misting, and layers of patterned paper abound. However, I'll try to remember that it's okay to do up a page where it only takes a fraction of that hour. If it means getting caught up, I'm all for it! (Currently, I'm just starting to scrap 2009 in all of the kids albums!!!)<br />
<br />
Alright, it's Monday, which means hubby is running errands for me. Work is done, looks like I'm getting some more scrapping done! Hope you're all having a great week!<br />

Thought I would share this week's <a href="http://www.challenges.papercraftingmagic.com/">Paper Crafting Challenges</a> mission, if you choose to accept it. It's easy peasy -- either make a card following the following <a href="http://www.challenges.papercraftingmagic.com/challenge-6/">sketch</a>, or create something that includes pearls. And if you're a Lawn Fawn fan, you'll want to play -- the winner gets a free stamp set of your choice (which is a tough decision to have to make, they are all so cute!!) Of course, I chose the sketch:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiSxqPcduWDiUaMs8Y6gtXQ1e4Mc90180ljxkn7IIccKv5cuClKrSa2RM6NDQywAKMtrjX-6yaly5EETpJWT6fMRuQQYC5kn_IS0BJXb00gYntgB5do4DCweQo8Ei3GfV1ueNXpTAI_yaA/s1600/sketch-challenge-2.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiSxqPcduWDiUaMs8Y6gtXQ1e4Mc90180ljxkn7IIccKv5cuClKrSa2RM6NDQywAKMtrjX-6yaly5EETpJWT6fMRuQQYC5kn_IS0BJXb00gYntgB5do4DCweQo8Ei3GfV1ueNXpTAI_yaA/s1600/sketch-challenge-2.png" height="320" width="263" /></a></div>
It's interesting, is it not? Here's what I created:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhL_6IpDlWrMj8wUTfzDPrZo2Ybxc-MGr3ygVruMWmHSFca9LyU0jHgrhHbCMPGIuWPa6-rad0GqBLphVPMTL7TFErevKQAMHhRnLqkjb9r6LNvELIEF3V0cMlmjnpkVgARUO5kMOpHf0I/s1600/2014-03-24+12.39.54.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhL_6IpDlWrMj8wUTfzDPrZo2Ybxc-MGr3ygVruMWmHSFca9LyU0jHgrhHbCMPGIuWPa6-rad0GqBLphVPMTL7TFErevKQAMHhRnLqkjb9r6LNvELIEF3V0cMlmjnpkVgARUO5kMOpHf0I/s1600/2014-03-24+12.39.54.jpg" height="400" width="293" /></a></div>
I used a freebie Unity Stamp Co. sentiment included with my last order, Christy Tomlinson She Art paper, Prima flowers, and an AC pink pearl brad. I decided to move the circles on the sketch around a bit, as you can tell. I thought the sentiment would be fabulous raised off of the surface of the card, so I stuck three layers of foam adhesive squares in the center. Then I gently bent each side and adhered them to the card. Voila, an interesting banner sentiment, stamped with Memento Dew Drops in Danube Blue and Lady Bug. The blue circle felt left out, so I raised it up with adhesive foam squares too!<br />
<br />

<br />
<br />
I added a pop of purple with Memento Lulu Lavender ink and Fireworks spray (love that they are perfectly coordinated!). The sentiment is from Unity (a freebie I received with my last order), matted on two different sheets of grey cardstock. I decided all it needed at this point was a doodle and some glitter glue. Yesterday at Target, I picked up some American Crafts Grape Zazz that was on clearance. Have you used Zazz yet? I got a great spring color set, which included this pretty shade of purple. It goes so well with the Lulu Lavender, it's like they were created to go together!<br />
<br />
I would say play along, but you'd only have 5 minutes to do so as it ends at noon! If you have the time, head on over to the CAS-ual Fridays blog and play along.<br />
<br />

I trust everyone's weekend went well :) I'm posting with some big news: I am now designing for a new challenge blog, <a href="http://www.challenges.papercraftingmagic.com/">Paper Crafting Challenges</a>! We bring a new challenge each and every Friday to get your creative juices flowing, and this week, it's a <a href="http://www.challenges.papercraftingmagic.com/challenge-2-follow-the-sketch-and-something-sweet/">sketch challenge</a>.<br />
<br />
The sketch:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh2cfPqwycTu0PKZRAF9_8CTVRUwJDqlGckfCcL6zX7_bgvUxnXDXVrFIkR78TRgOh3n_3olYar553opS-u7e2kdnT1nOpmVyMpt0cOMRrvzTCNDDMgFc7coc-zcG7O-mYcNxpt6ZTdxok/s1600/2-13-2014-3-35-14-PM.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh2cfPqwycTu0PKZRAF9_8CTVRUwJDqlGckfCcL6zX7_bgvUxnXDXVrFIkR78TRgOh3n_3olYar553opS-u7e2kdnT1nOpmVyMpt0cOMRrvzTCNDDMgFc7coc-zcG7O-mYcNxpt6ZTdxok/s1600/2-13-2014-3-35-14-PM.jpg" height="350" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
And my interpretation:<br />

I chose my Crafter's Companion Sentimentals Everyday - Imagine EZ Mount stamp set for this one -- the circular design lends itself well to the sketch. I felt the sketch needed to be turned, and used some pretty Authentique papers. Simple doodles added the perfect finishing touch!<br />

So I turned to my Stamp It Australia Imagine - Birds & Butterflies, naturally!<br />

<br />Before
stamping the image with London Fog Memento ink with my Rock-A-Blocks, I sprayed the card base
with Mister Huey in water Cooler. Right before it dried, I added a
layer of Imagine Crafts Sheer Shimmer mist in Frost. The image was
stamped and then embossed lightly with clear Stampendous embossing
powder, then spritzed with Fireworks Lulu Lavender from Imagine Crafts.
The mist comes right off the clear powder so that it isn't masked by all
that lovely purple mist! I adhered it with adhesive squares to the card base after dragging the edges in the grey ink. The butterflies and flourish on the bottom are Glitz Design Distressed Couture rubons accented with Lavender Stickles. The sentiment is leftover from the Crafter's Companion Fairyopolis Complete Cardmaking kit. More Stickles completes this card perfectly!<br />

Recipe ChallengeBack again with yet another challenge entered (and there are a total of two more to share after this! I'm on a roll!)<br />
<br />
This time, I played along with the <a href="http://www.trimmiescraftchallenge.blogspot.com/2014/02/challenge-247-20th-of-february-recipe.html">C.R.A.F.T. recipe challenge</a>, where the requirement was to use 1 image, 2 shapes, 3 papers, and 4 gems/brads/embellishments. Easy peasy! Here's what I made:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEht_YVMMKPRONfDg-HTNFOxLftlktOfIM7Dk85U1kwnfp08J8YXAviPOn88f69wMQ_hMaIqn4aWZAAtlaqZ5Ily-37_j0D3YoVzo08VS6mOg0B_OgHfZiv-HMaQ2PWJXNlcEkLE-TgYOsY/s1600/2014-02-24+13.19.46.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEht_YVMMKPRONfDg-HTNFOxLftlktOfIM7Dk85U1kwnfp08J8YXAviPOn88f69wMQ_hMaIqn4aWZAAtlaqZ5Ily-37_j0D3YoVzo08VS6mOg0B_OgHfZiv-HMaQ2PWJXNlcEkLE-TgYOsY/s1600/2014-02-24+13.19.46.jpg" height="320" width="226" /></a></div>
The image, a Webster's Itty Bitty from Unity Stamp Co., was stamped in Tuxedo Black and Elderberry Memento ink and applied using my Rock-A-Blocks from Crafter's Companion. Can't stamp without those things! The papers are from Lilybee's Persnickity line (Fussy and Prim), and the third paper is black cardstock matting the image. I added doodles with my American Crafts black pen, and Mon Ami Gabby black gems added to the mat are the perfect finishing touch.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgaN6aHzOtazUND7aYqug8sah8GD4RIB6empoBLRdzfxo-e7sKN_d5WqqSQT3tQdDPqluMAKbMdz2FPgFCY7ZsoJ0pviFpYi_KnYf-wp4f9OD0ubT0-cXx7UX10aamiL-RoYCWTfQIIdwk/s1600/2014-02-24+13.19.54.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgaN6aHzOtazUND7aYqug8sah8GD4RIB6empoBLRdzfxo-e7sKN_d5WqqSQT3tQdDPqluMAKbMdz2FPgFCY7ZsoJ0pviFpYi_KnYf-wp4f9OD0ubT0-cXx7UX10aamiL-RoYCWTfQIIdwk/s1600/2014-02-24+13.19.54.jpg" height="213" width="320" /></a></div>
I raised the image up off the card with some foam squares.<br />
<br />
That's it! The deadline is tomorrow, so be sure to play along with this challenge. It's fun and simple!<br />
<br />

So when I saw this challenge for <a href="http://www.challenges.papercraftingmagic.com/first-challenge/">Paper Crafting Challenges</a>, I knew I had to play along. I made this super fun card that shows exactly how spring comes here in New England. It peeks its head through the darkness and bitter cold for a day or two, and then retreats again, teasing us repeatedly until it hits us with its full glory.<br />
<br />
So my card is the sunshine coming out of the darkness and dreariness:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiiGAYOZ_3KXCcsJzMVKsC6SKIHCHQG6a9lysDlMJo_jKOHh-zvsFHqO6bbdynNCBXFYFbv4KwdYNEGhrF3s62ceG1111FrpDjuT0pb6A4CluLGEfl6NrN4IwXRrUcGuSs4EWcJ1MpYygM/s1600/2014-02-21+12.16.12.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiiGAYOZ_3KXCcsJzMVKsC6SKIHCHQG6a9lysDlMJo_jKOHh-zvsFHqO6bbdynNCBXFYFbv4KwdYNEGhrF3s62ceG1111FrpDjuT0pb6A4CluLGEfl6NrN4IwXRrUcGuSs4EWcJ1MpYygM/s1600/2014-02-21+12.16.12.jpg" height="400" width="346" /></a></div>
The background paper was rubbed with Distress Inks in Tattered Rose, Antique Linen, and Walnut Stain. I affixed a circle cut from my Cricut behind the My Mind's Eye die cut. Imaginisce fabric flowers that were white were sprayed with Mister Huey in Taxi Cab and Smooch black, all put together with a Making Memories square pewter brad with a Prima crystal on top. I added a Words or Whatever heart banner covered in Memento Tuxedo Black ink. The pink crocheted flower is Prima, the blue is My Mind's Eye Laundry Line, and the bling/pearls are American Crafts brads and Prima crystals. <br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Turned to WRMK's Twirl line, adding a random strip of yellow stripe-y paper that I'm not sure where I got it...all I know is it has been sitting on my desk for the past four months!! I added a Prima flourish, a strip of felt flower ribbon I picked up in the Target dollar bin ages ago (I even separated some flowers from the ribbon to use loosely with the flourish!) A strip of Mon Ami Gabby bling was affixed to the ribbon, and another strip was broken up to use among the flourish. The black dots in the flower centers and all over the page in random locations is Onyx Pearl Liquid Pearls. The alpha is a mix -- Authentique and Thickers.<br />

Then I Smashed! I find this is a great way to use up those little die cuts and stickers you just can't seem to get rid of. There is a whole bunch going on here...My Mind's Eye die cut, Echo Park stickers, EK stickers, washi, Elle's Studio die cuts, an "oopsie" circle die cut from my Cricut that was a tad too small for another project, Fancy Pants alpha, and Simple Stories burlap alpha.<br />

This one uses Webster's Pages Spring Market bits I have leftover, including alpha, along with the bird washi. Easy, quick, and cute!<br />
<br />
I can't wait to play more later! There are a few challenges I need to create for, and this weekend, I'll be working on some DT submissions. I have loved my two month break, choosing to read and do things for "me," but not creating is starting to become detrimental to my mood. I need to find a reason to create every day, and a design team does just that! It pushes me to create, even when I don't think I have time. The truth is, there's always time to create! You just have to remember how important it is to your soul. :)<br />

I am looking forward to slowing things down next week. While some parents are planning to travel and go neat and interesting places, I'm planning to do a whole lot of nothing next week. Sure, we'll probably take a day to go somewhere cool like we always do, but I'm not really feeling a week-long funfest! Fun for me will be sleeping past 7 (which I probably won't be able to do anyway), staying in my pajamas at least one day, getting some assistance with housekeeping, and getting my work done in one sitting instead of breaking it up into pieces for appointments, school pickups, and after school activities. <br />
<br />
I haven't had the time to craft as much as I'd like to lately, just for me. I have completed quite a bit of work on items for the shop, but my poor albums have been neglected as of late. So I'm doing something about that, employing the handy "list of challenges." This is a nice reference I can use to get my mojo going (which I really needed!!), telling me what I need to do to meet the challenge guidelines and what products, if any, I am supposed to use. That way I am inspired to create something....like this adorable layout. It's for the <a href="http://boysrulescrapbookkits.blogspot.ca/2014/02/extreme-challenge-sketch-style.html">Boys Rule Scrapbook Kit blog sketch challenge</a>, and was just what I needed to get the creative juices flowing again :) Take a look at the sketch by clicking the link above, and here's what I came up with:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj17QwMcttb0bTOCbB8QWEG-ZOqSFGHVpq5Gmp56TNW1KppL-yrir4SbN3AUpov9gLhYVB0__uy0Z1b9pvOQqP3-xDycatBLMnScBmyxveitLcg4bKYYtJSUeRc2C_81NNz_Nc_UZo7OB8/s1600/2014-02-16+14.47.29.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj17QwMcttb0bTOCbB8QWEG-ZOqSFGHVpq5Gmp56TNW1KppL-yrir4SbN3AUpov9gLhYVB0__uy0Z1b9pvOQqP3-xDycatBLMnScBmyxveitLcg4bKYYtJSUeRc2C_81NNz_Nc_UZo7OB8/s1600/2014-02-16+14.47.29.jpg" height="393" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I am being persistent in my goal to de-stash. Although I have parted with quite a bit of paper, I still have three cases full! So for this layout, I combined manufacturers -- both chevron patterns are from Basic Grey PB&J collection, while the tan patterned paper is Crate Paper - Pink Plum. Scenic route alpha, Cosmo Cricut Cogsmo "Oh Boy" strip, and Stuff2Scrap chipboard hearts in varying sizes.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgkD6G0wSmdOVia2KcQhmUKsldrI3et9rM8GSi4j4o4IRzFwxbDPvXzuIXqr8jIaFhGl-VJ9LfCq82wGHPosbwowzbGP9L82YYYjsfJh2KwcpgQIkEo3v97rtblilTxDEiwhuaU6voZ59c/s1600/2014-02-16+14.47.38.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"> <img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgkD6G0wSmdOVia2KcQhmUKsldrI3et9rM8GSi4j4o4IRzFwxbDPvXzuIXqr8jIaFhGl-VJ9LfCq82wGHPosbwowzbGP9L82YYYjsfJh2KwcpgQIkEo3v97rtblilTxDEiwhuaU6voZ59c/s1600/2014-02-16+14.47.38.jpg" height="266" width="400" /></a></div>
I started altering the hearts by covering them in gesso. When that was dry, I covered it with Tattered Angels Glimmer Glaze in All That Jazz (a great teal color!) and when that was dry, I spritzed it with October Afternoon Sprinklers in Night Sky. I love how the glaze peeks through the mist! The cardstock, chosen to compliment my son's shirt, was then spritzed with Imagine Crafts Sheer Shimmer in Frost. When that was dry, I added the journaling with an American Crafts white gel pen.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

So there you have it! The second of Boys Rule's challenges. Expect the first later, I am loving sketch challenges right now! It's perfect if you suffer scrapper's block, like I am going through right now!<br />
<br />
Watch for more challenges, I have completed quite a few!<br />

This is my very last <a href="http://crafterscompanion.com/">Crafter's Companion</a> post. The new design team was announced -- did you see it? Lots of talent there! I have loved designing for the company, but it was time to move on, focusing on work and my Etsy shop which was neglected a bit too much for my liking in 2013.<br />
<br />
I made this card to ring in the new year, featuring the <a href="http://www.crafterscompanion.com/Humphrey-Xmas-EZMount-Stamp-Set--Auld-Lang-Syne_p_434.html">Humphrey Xmas EZ Mount Stamp Set - Auld Lang Syne</a>, a New Year's favorite of mine.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh1UfxDUBCBy9xRo1pzYpz3aytc4FbefMEYbWQ7vFW6Op0gw2Sg45P-B5m6QO0exeO684f-CHVNhAixdDfS13n2T1MaZTzCayaNB2ljDv29312vcVqm2ETqEA7I9vx9UTjZM-9xx7OwdM8/s1600/2013-12-31+12.35.04.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh1UfxDUBCBy9xRo1pzYpz3aytc4FbefMEYbWQ7vFW6Op0gw2Sg45P-B5m6QO0exeO684f-CHVNhAixdDfS13n2T1MaZTzCayaNB2ljDv29312vcVqm2ETqEA7I9vx9UTjZM-9xx7OwdM8/s320/2013-12-31+12.35.04.jpg" width="222" /></a></div>
I started by stamping the image onto <a href="http://www.crafterscompanion.com/Ultra-Smooth-Premium-White-Cardstock-Unscored-85-x-11--50-Sheet-Package_p_611.html">Ultra Smooth Premium White Cardstock</a> with<a href="http://www.crafterscompanion.com/Memento-Ink-Pads_c_99.html"> Memento Tuxedo Black ink.</a> I colored it up with my <a href="http://www.crafterscompanion.com/Spectrum-Noir_c_69.html">Spectrum Noir pens</a> (CR3, CR6, PP1, PP3, PP4, CT1, CT2, CT4, LY1, LY2, LY3, IG1, IG3, IG4, TB4, TB5, TB6, TB7, IB1, IB2, IB3, BG2, BG3, BG5, BP3, TN6). The confetti and other accents are Silver Liquid Pearls. I stuck it all down with <a href="http://www.crafterscompanion.com/Collalls-Tacky-Glue-100ml_p_2071.html">Collal Tacky Glue</a>, matting it and backing it with a doily that just barely peeks out :) After stamping the sentiment, I stuck some blue pearls next to it and added some pen stitching. Voila, done!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgWQuXTcI2fcKppSq21ayaw2wgqwu_yVaHYa3gq8koKaS0kFBdXnNOai-fzY67mJ1xSOaf7l-Q5WOUX-1U6ktGG7bXE4q8acEkI3fScmn7zVmsGYeEu6L_fnBi_QVib-bDfx_FNARUFYeQ/s1600/2013-12-31+12.35.08.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgWQuXTcI2fcKppSq21ayaw2wgqwu_yVaHYa3gq8koKaS0kFBdXnNOai-fzY67mJ1xSOaf7l-Q5WOUX-1U6ktGG7bXE4q8acEkI3fScmn7zVmsGYeEu6L_fnBi_QVib-bDfx_FNARUFYeQ/s320/2013-12-31+12.35.08.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
I am not one to make New Year's resolutions, but I did make myself a bit of one anyway, relating to <a href="https://www.etsy.com/shop/kcraftroom">Khristen's Craft Room</a>. I intend to make something each day for the shop now that I have a little more time in my schedule, filling it up with crafty goodness!<br />
<br />
Did you make any crafty resolutions? I'd love to hear about them!<br />
<br />
I hope you all have a fabulous 2014!<br />
<br />

This year, unlike the past few years, each and every recipient on my card list was sent a card (although the last batch went out on Christmas Eve day!) That is a big accomplishment, especially with all of the extra time I've devoted to work. I started 2013 with plenty of time to pursue my crafty endeavors, and finished the year lucky to squeeze even an hour of crafty time in each week! What a difference a year makes. That is a good thing, as it's nice to be contributing significantly to the household, but a bad thing as I need to have creative time in order to feel complete. It's odd how that works with us creative folk -- our desire to create is so great, we end up grumpy or sad or wandering through life like a lost soul if we do not get enough creative time in. It's like an itch that needs to be scratched, or an addiction that leads to "withdrawal" symptoms when we aren't able to just. make. something.<br />
<br />
So my 2014 intention: make more time for craftiness. My crafty business is doing well, but my scrapbooks are not. They are quite neglected, so it's time to get back to what got me into papercrafting in the first place: preserving my family's memories for generations to come. It's time to strike a balance between work, family, and my creative needs so that I do not lose my mind!<br />
<br />
Alright...so here's the card. It is simple, yet striking, I think. Of course, <a href="http://crafterscompanion.com/">Crafter's Companion</a> to the rescue, with the <a href="http://www.crafterscompanion.com/425-X-575-Embossing-Folder--Ornaments-On-Side_p_2207.html">4.25x5.75 Darice Ornaments On Side embossing folder</a> and a piece of sandpaper. After sanding the embossed image, I just added a matted sentiment stamped with <a href="http://www.crafterscompanion.com/Memento-Ink-Pads_c_99.html">Memento Tuxedo Black ink</a>, from the <a href="http://www.crafterscompanion.com/Crafters-Inspiration-Christmas-Edition-by-Crafters-Companion_p_2256.html">Crafter's Inspiration magazine</a>, one of the freebie stamps provided. Done! (That's the key to Christmas cards by the way -- if you want to send out a bunch, keep it simple!)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Get ready for one more post to finish off 2013. My last <a href="http://crafterscompanion.com/">Crafter's Companion</a> post for 2013! Can you believe another year has ended? I certainly can't! So many good things...I wonder what's to come in 2014?Khristenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16196981586520229367noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6276896014507985323.post-40872061583317274052013-12-21T08:00:00.000-05:002013-12-23T12:51:53.882-05:00'Tis the Season...Card Season, That Is.Yes, Christmas card season is in full swing. I have about half of my cards out, the other half to go out by Christmas Eve (yes, you might get them late, but at least you'll get them!), and am happy to report that each and every card is handmade this year! You might remember last year half were handmade, while I resorted to store bought after realizing I just didn't have the time to make the rest. Well, this year I have devised an easier way, one that allows me to be more productive, in terms of my "assembly line" method.<br />
<br />
Last year, I started each card from scratch. That included the image that I stamped and colored, all the way to the final embellishment. That can actually be a hindrance in getting your cards out. Think about it: you get into the card zone after completing a card, having a great idea for the next one. The only problem is that you need to stop in between cards to stamp and color the image in. This can disrupt the crafty groove more than you think!<br />
<br />
I just took a sheet of <a href="http://www.crafterscompanion.com/Ultra-Smooth-Premium-White-Cardstock-Unscored-85-x-11--50-Sheet-Package_p_611.html">Ultra-Smooth Premium White Cardstock (8.5x11)</a> and filled it with stamps that I wanted to include on this year's holiday cards. I don't do them all the same. Rather, each one is unique. They might have the same stamp here or there, but they're colored and designed completely different from one another. So I set out with a collection of holiday stamps from <a href="http://crafterscompanion.com/">Crafter's Companion</a>. Pictured here are the <a href="http://www.crafterscompanion.com/Swalk-Winter-EZMount-Stamp-Set--Warm-Heart_p_523.html">S.W.A.L.K. Winter EZ Mount Stamp Set - Warm Heart</a>, <a href="http://www.crafterscompanion.com/Paintbox-Poppets-EZMount-Stamp-Set--Sleigh-Ride_p_1377.html">Paintbox Poppets EZ Mount Stamp Set - Sleigh Ride</a>, and Popcorn the Bear EZ Mount Stamp Set - Just For You all on the same page.<br />

I got the S.W.A.L.K. images colored in first, each one different than the other. Both girls feature FS3, FS4, and FS5 for their skin and True Black, OR1 and OR3 for the penguins. The girl on the left has TN5, TN6, GB6 (hair) and PP3, PP4, and PP5 for the bows/clothing. The girl on the right has TN2, TN3, TN4 hair, PL1, PL2 bows, and HB1, HB2, and HB3 clothing. They both have Frosted Lace <a href="http://www.crafterscompanion.com/search.asp?keyword=stickles&search.x=0&search.y=0">Stickles</a> on the fur accents of their clothing.<br />

And here's the card I put the pink-suited cutie on. I stamped the sentiment directly onto the patterned paper with rich, deep <a href="http://www.crafterscompanion.com/Memento-Luxe-Ink-Pads_c_277.html">Memento Luxe</a> Natuical Blue ink. I just love that stuff!<br />

Today, I hope to complete my cardmaking for the holiday season. They will all be sent in the mail on the 24th, and I can start to enjoy the holiday with my own family more peacefully, knowing I got it all done!! It feels good to say that -- ever since Patryk was born, it felt like I just couldn't get all of the usual holiday tasks completed. I'm happy to say that after 6 years, even after picking up more work and having less available time to get things done, I have gotten back into the swing of the holiday routine. I love Christmas! I'm hoping to get one more post in before Christmas, but in case I don't, I hope everyone has a peaceful, relaxing holiday with the ones they love. May 2014 bring you abundant blessings and happiness (and craftiness!)<br />

It's December, and that means more than the holidays: it's time for another <a href="http://www.crafterscompanion.co.uk/blog/crafterscompetition/">Crafter's Companion challenge</a>! This month, we want to see you use ribbon or twine (or both, like I did) on your project.<br />
<br />
Making your own Christmas cards can be a daunting task, unless you keep it simple. The <a href="http://www.facebook.com/l.php?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.crafterscompanion.com%2FInspiration-Magazine_c_224.html&h=6AQHK4Vks">Crafter's Inspiration magazine</a> helps you accomplish this while still looking like your best work ever with all of its freebie papers and stamps!<br />
<br />
I used the magazine to make this card, which took me all of a few minutes. Perfect when you have a long list of Christmas card recipients!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhsjKyqzTDyLqE1iC2K5qAZHmGzcFHMFwXDolUKCixi1khVgo894-kydISMxrCeN93pWofVGQiXeQXbyTqGoDIh_t6G3UIPHZvp-2Jdjtzj1fiGuRpe2ItnkvsbrsSJ1TDiVxa_F6x3rLM/s1600/dec+challenge.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="365" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhsjKyqzTDyLqE1iC2K5qAZHmGzcFHMFwXDolUKCixi1khVgo894-kydISMxrCeN93pWofVGQiXeQXbyTqGoDIh_t6G3UIPHZvp-2Jdjtzj1fiGuRpe2ItnkvsbrsSJ1TDiVxa_F6x3rLM/s400/dec+challenge.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
All I needed was my <a href="http://www.facebook.com/l.php?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.crafterscompanion.com%2FCollalls-Tacky-Glue-100ml_p_2071.html&h=0AQGj7F2q">Collal Tacky Glue</a>, which I love because it ensures the paper elements are perfectly in place. The papers are all freebies included in the magazine, including the stamp and image. The sentiment was stamped onto <a href="http://www.crafterscompanion.com/Luxury-Centura-Pearl-8-x-8-Printable-Snow-White-Cardstock--10-Sheets_p_2139.html">Luxury Centura Pearl cardstock</a> with <a href="http://www.crafterscompanion.com/Memento-Ink-Pads_c_99.html">Memento Paris Dusk</a> ink. Blue and white twine was added around the top of the sentiment. I cut out the image and adhered it with <a href="http://www.facebook.com/l.php?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.crafterscompanion.com%2FDouble-Sided-Adhesive-Foam-Squares--400-Pieces_p_151.html&h=aAQFocs2C">adhesive squares</a> over a piece of white ribbon. That's it! the perfect card for anyone on my list, and it was soooooo easy!</div>

<br />
<br />
Christmas card making is in full swing, and I couldn't be happier. I love this time of year, and sending out handmade cards when I have the chance. The past few years have been ultra busy with all of the kids' various activities around the holidays, but I've actually had some time to get cards made! We'll see if I can make all that I need (I have a rather big list!), but for now, I'm about halfway through. Impressive, I know! ;)<br />
<br />
I decided to use this stamp from the <a href="http://www.crafterscompanion.com/Sentimentals-EZMount-Stamp-Set--Love-is-all-you-need_p_2369.html">Everyday Sentimentals - Love Is All You Need EZ Mount stamp set</a> on one of my cards. Why not? It is quite versatile, and works perfectly for the holidays!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgbALoesyRQSOc0NOdDkWFyUAXdlQgZP4iqGS0SV6bQRVP7s_nnOHnREKgAUwhhdiDFfUCHXeqF058_rauwQQP27ai-NHtBzIsMxTeCK8Q9NIOOFovkhLJFk6xM4jER2YgHgduQ7l3cEqM/s1600/2013-12-05+16.57.41.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgbALoesyRQSOc0NOdDkWFyUAXdlQgZP4iqGS0SV6bQRVP7s_nnOHnREKgAUwhhdiDFfUCHXeqF058_rauwQQP27ai-NHtBzIsMxTeCK8Q9NIOOFovkhLJFk6xM4jER2YgHgduQ7l3cEqM/s400/2013-12-05+16.57.41.jpg" width="290" /></a></div>
The key to making your own holiday cards is simplicity. You need to let go of those voices in your head that say this has to be the fanciest card you've ever made. Simple can be stunning, too! So I used scraps in my Christmas paper collection, which I save just for cards, to make it easy. A few sheets of perfectly placed paper adhered with <a href="http://www.crafterscompanion.com/Collalls-Tacky-Glue-100ml_p_2071.html">Collal Tacky Glue</a> (wet glue helps you ensure perfect paper placement!), the sentiment adhered with <a href="http://www.crafterscompanion.com/Double-Sided-Adhesive-Foam-Circles--88-Pieces_p_150.html">foam circles</a>, and black bling makes a nice, simple card that will be perfect for anyone on my card list!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhLWMz7AaIouaRT2icrKQOaUdGpD2uU7B2MYYLrNhfHRm5DfVGBQuriJAvmmvhORdqO2iiU0T64Rtv9poLo4On8G7jdtX6ITDDF80uvUYaZIiy1ze28pryS9QlHlPSwf-XKh91hbNY52Yc/s1600/2013-12-05+16.57.47.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhLWMz7AaIouaRT2icrKQOaUdGpD2uU7B2MYYLrNhfHRm5DfVGBQuriJAvmmvhORdqO2iiU0T64Rtv9poLo4On8G7jdtX6ITDDF80uvUYaZIiy1ze28pryS9QlHlPSwf-XKh91hbNY52Yc/s400/2013-12-05+16.57.47.jpg" width="300" /></a></div>
Head to the <a href="http://crafterscompanion.com/">Crafter's Companion</a> store and grab some Sentimentals stamp sets. They're perfect for any occasion!<br />

Our challenge was simple: make a holiday card. So I decided to grab a couple of my favorite Christmas stamp sets, the <a href="http://www.crafterscompanion.com/Dee-Gruenig-EZMount-Stamp-Set--Ahhh-Christmas_p_1742.html">Dee Gruenig Ahh, Christmas</a> and <a href="http://www.crafterscompanion.com/Dee-Gruenig-EZMount-Stamp-Set--Jolly-Holly_p_1743.html">Dee Gruenig Jolly Holly</a> EZ Mount Stamp Sets:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhO4lBFJ0lHRj8MbkHAm1XfIMDP862HYLv3CB9oJuzl29f8HZsVhCDqU1ZLQJ92a9sUvMsao6w-mokO1ZCTjOrN0Zw_wAyUHN5qmiSqgIN4L31N4WFC-VupzzuDuWU_jV0nDMDpSkXYjR0/s1600/2013-12-05+16.19.09.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="280" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhO4lBFJ0lHRj8MbkHAm1XfIMDP862HYLv3CB9oJuzl29f8HZsVhCDqU1ZLQJ92a9sUvMsao6w-mokO1ZCTjOrN0Zw_wAyUHN5qmiSqgIN4L31N4WFC-VupzzuDuWU_jV0nDMDpSkXYjR0/s400/2013-12-05+16.19.09.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
I used my <a href="http://www.crafterscompanion.com/Spectrum-Noir_c_69.html">Spectrum Noir</a> pens to color up the ornaments from the Jolly Holly stamp set (JG4, LG2, LG3, DR1, DR3, CR6, JG3, CR6, CR7, CR8) after stamping them in Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I fussy cut them, ran a piece of twine throught the holes, and adhered them with <a href="http://www.crafterscompanion.com/Collalls-Tacky-Glue-100ml_p_2071.html">Collal Tacky Glue</a>. The sentiment is from the Ahhh, Christmas set.<br />

Good morning! I made this card a week or so ago, but with the Thanksgiving holiday and 2 birthdays (happy birthday to my oldest daughter who turned 14 on the 26th and my son who turned 6 on the 30th!), I kind of forgot! Better late than never, right? I just couldn't stop using the new <a href="http://crafterscompanion.com/">Crafter's Companion</a> <a href="http://www.crafterscompanion.com/Everyday_c_305.html">Sentimentals</a> collection!! I had just received the best package of goodies in the mail, and couldn't wait to use them. This card came together quickly and easily -- I love when that happens!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiNFuRtYP0d75ZRcc0bXvxO-n5DwAO-4MOafjLlS15Oo9sOUr0u3gJmMATMKg9Z06oVPp21Yy8Ba7-3Y7TPpzEe6MLefjdU5QI8xq5jArTVX2LdgUkEuKmbCdC_C9TxFLxibCLJOqqDAVY/s640/blogger-image-1406744097.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiNFuRtYP0d75ZRcc0bXvxO-n5DwAO-4MOafjLlS15Oo9sOUr0u3gJmMATMKg9Z06oVPp21Yy8Ba7-3Y7TPpzEe6MLefjdU5QI8xq5jArTVX2LdgUkEuKmbCdC_C9TxFLxibCLJOqqDAVY/s640/blogger-image-1406744097.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
This card uses the <a href="http://www.crafterscompanion.com/Sentimentals-EZMount-Stamp-Set--Memories-are-made_p_2370.html">Everyday Sentimentals - Memories Are Made EZ Mount Stamp Set</a>, inked around the edges with <a href="http://www.crafterscompanion.com/Memento-Ink-Pads_c_99.html">Memento Espresso Truffle ink</a>. After adhering the two coordinating patterned papers and sentiment with my Extra Strong Permanent adhesive tape runner, I added the fun wood veneer arrows, rubbing the Espresso Truffle ink over them. When they were adhered to the card with my <a href="http://www.crafterscompanion.com/Collalls-Tacky-Glue-100ml_p_2071.html">Collal Tacky Glue</a>, I inked around the entire edge of the card. Done! How easy was that? And it's still such a pretty card. :)</div>

There you have it! There will be another post later, I have some catching up to do! I hope you all had a fabulous Thanksgiving holiday, and I hope Christmas isn't sneaking up on you (like it is me!!)<br />

KhristenKhristenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16196981586520229367noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6276896014507985323.post-5681813985340531312013-11-22T20:00:00.000-05:002013-11-25T12:25:39.477-05:00Sentimentals Release!Who doesn't love a good sentiment? While I love receiving scores of images ready to ink, stamp, and color in my Crafter's Companion order each month, even more do I love a good, versatile sentiment. Whether stamped alone, with an image, or even inside the cards you give your loved ones, sentiment sets are essential for the cardmaker.<br />
<br />
Crafter's Companion released new Sentimentals EZ Mount stamp sets today, and I know you have to have them (ok, well, at least I have to have them, all of them!) Here's a fun little card I designed, inspired by the sentiment stamped on the front:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj4lgqD-LGxcnO2ZtgdykUIq4QgQbmx0jd7NT6q3wtEDuSdJ1VNQs32enOD5PU7vjkjC_MUdKlUgMAAcxDTHZfkTZbWKx1Purbdm2z1xWpBgVHvvSji2YYoQYs9AinWpoC5puTRb-GKwtU/s1600/2013-11-22+15.12.32a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj4lgqD-LGxcnO2ZtgdykUIq4QgQbmx0jd7NT6q3wtEDuSdJ1VNQs32enOD5PU7vjkjC_MUdKlUgMAAcxDTHZfkTZbWKx1Purbdm2z1xWpBgVHvvSji2YYoQYs9AinWpoC5puTRb-GKwtU/s400/2013-11-22+15.12.32a.jpg" width="300" /></a></div>
The sentiment comes from the <a href="http://www.crafterscompanion.com/Sentimentals-EZMount-Stamp-Set--Memories-are-made_p_2370.html">Memories Are Made EZ Mount Stamp Set.</a> I started tearing through my patterned paper, selecting the majority of the designs from the Basic Grey PB&J line. The orange with red polka dot piece is from the MME Lime Twist collection. I free-drew each part of the rainbow on the pieces of cardstock, cut them out haphazardly, and glued them down to the <a href="http://www.crafterscompanion.com/Ultra-Smooth-Premium-White-Cardstock-Unscored-85-x-11--50-Sheet-Package_p_611.html">Ultra Smooth Premium White Cardstock</a> card base with <a href="http://www.crafterscompanion.com/Collalls-Tacky-Glue-100ml_p_2071.html">Collal Tacky Glue</a>. I love the primitive look to the rainbow, and decided <a href="http://www.crafterscompanion.com/Stickles_c_32.html">Black Diamond Stickles</a> would be the perfect finishing touch. I matted the sentiment, added a bow, and gave it the Stickles treatment as well.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEirw5e7Ew5aPu23seyhvW_XXVTmxQcBZ7OVxvmbbxecOhVIkAeSUhN5s41alagwgnCky4L8NGeXNDn7yTv3OAra81_3Pn8shOb-q_6H68EaPEHQaI1GcykQ2xFPgOtCbZJRhT8LMxKMuLQ/s1600/2013-11-22+15.12.36.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEirw5e7Ew5aPu23seyhvW_XXVTmxQcBZ7OVxvmbbxecOhVIkAeSUhN5s41alagwgnCky4L8NGeXNDn7yTv3OAra81_3Pn8shOb-q_6H68EaPEHQaI1GcykQ2xFPgOtCbZJRhT8LMxKMuLQ/s320/2013-11-22+15.12.36.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>

If you love Sheena, you NEED these stamp sets!<br />
<br />
I loved the <a href="http://www.crafterscompanion.com/Sheenas-A-Little-Bit-Scenic--Seascapes_p_2368.html">Seascapes</a> set, and sat down to make this as soon as I had a moment:<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgbRlSi8ocHkZ8Oo0kZGlDJgQJI5d4kbcwBtrc4TYXALNevUghdEF9j1Jd4StUUydiJQsm54gqeCjk6nXVKzt6XBMvPvQaHdNxSesa6yUbyl4QJmxYaKeJOkgiU0rALtQ1jcx_bpDOPZvw/s1600/2013-11-07+10.11.40a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgbRlSi8ocHkZ8Oo0kZGlDJgQJI5d4kbcwBtrc4TYXALNevUghdEF9j1Jd4StUUydiJQsm54gqeCjk6nXVKzt6XBMvPvQaHdNxSesa6yUbyl4QJmxYaKeJOkgiU0rALtQ1jcx_bpDOPZvw/s320/2013-11-07+10.11.40a.jpg" width="264" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
How awesome is that image?! I used my <a href="http://www.crafterscompanion.com/Spectrum-Noir_c_69.html">Spectrum Noir pens</a> (EB1, EB2, EB6, TB1, TB2, BT5, BT4, and GB9) to color it and then mounted it to woodgrain paper. Netting was a nice ocean-y touch, and a few black bling touches finish it off perfectly!</div>
